Where LR Began — the Founder’s Story

Long before LR was a brand, it was a little girl standing in front of her mother’s mirror

I would drape my mom’s dupatta over my head and twist it into long hair, slip her tan sling
bag over my shoulder, and become someone — a grown-up, a teacher walking into her
imaginary classroom, a woman with somewhere important to be. For hours, that bag was
not an accessory. It was a costume for my dreams. It made me feel special in a way I
couldn’t explain then and have never forgotten since.

Years later, I noticed that feeling had gone missing from the way women shop for occasion
bags. LR exists to bring it back. We curate embellished potlis and clutches for the moments in
Indian life when a woman is most seen — each piece handcrafted, its technique named. Because a woman deserves to trust what she carries, and the hands that made it deserve to be honored, not hidden.

But underneath the craft, LR is really about that mirror moment — the last glance before you
leave, the drawstring closing in your hand, the instant you stop getting ready and start
feeling ready. And it’s about who’s watching: somewhere in your house there may be a little
girl draping a dupatta over her head, reaching for your bag, dreaming of becoming you.

We make bags worthy of that gaze
